It was Saturday afternoon by time I made my way back out to the car lot to have another good look at the step van. When I arrived, there were two men already looking it over with the thought of using it for their construction company. Since I already had the keys in my hand for the truck, I ask the men to leave so I may take it for a test drive. They did not seem to happy about that. I had first dibs on it...... I had the keys!!
I took it up the highway for about 30 km and the 350 cu engine purred like a kitten. Lots of response when you stepped on the fuel petal. I also watch the gas gauge needle moving down toward the empty mark quickly. That is why I only went 30 KM one way.... I wasn't sure if I was going to make it back to the car dealership. By the way! I made it back okay.
After the test drive I bought the truck on the spot for $4,000 CAN plus taxes. The car dealership then took the truck to the garage to have a current safety and PMVI decal displayed on the vehicle. I made arrangements with my cousin Claude to assist me in picking up the truck by midweek. Once I got the truck home it sat on the street outside my apartment block.
The next few pictures you will see is off the inside of the truck as it originally was when I bought it also with all the cabinets being removed to make room to live in it.
